    The Art of the Appliqué South African Flag

    • Intricate Multi-Panel Construction: The South African flag is a masterpiece of geometry. Our expert UK seamstresses use the appliqué technique to meticulously join the six distinct colours. Every seam is a felled seam, meaning the raw edges are interlocked and double-stitched to ensure the flag remains perfectly flat and structurally sound even in high winds.
    • MOD-Grade 155gsm Woven Polyester: We exclusively use Ministry of Defence approved woven polyester. This is a heavy-duty, marine-grade fabric (155gsm) designed for extreme durability and "storm-proof" performance, far outlasting standard knitted polyester alternatives.
    • Reinforced Fly Ends: The "fly end" of a flag suffers the most stress. We reinforce this area with a minimum of four rows of industrial stitching and use box-stitching on the corners to prevent premature fraying and "whipping" damage.
    • Professional Finish: Each flag is completed with a heavy-duty canvas header tape and supplied with a traditional rope and wooden toggle for a classic, secure attachment to your flagpole.

    Technical Specs & Customisations

    • Available Sizes: From 1.5 yard (137 x 68 cm) for residential poles to 3 yard (274 x 137 cm) for large commercial displays. Custom sizes are available on request.
    • Optional Anti-Fray Netting: We highly recommend adding our sacrificial anti-fray mesh to the fly end. This mesh acts as a buffer against wind damage; when it begins to wear, it can be replaced easily, and so hopefully saving the main body of your flag from damage.
    • Custom Fixings: While rope and toggle are standard, we can finish your flag with Inglefield clips, metal eyelets, or sleeve headers to suit your specific setup.
